Will I see results from just doing push ups and sit ups?

I'm doing a program where you follow a guideline that supposed to make you able to do 100 push ups consecutively and 200 sit ups consecutively in 6 weeks. I started off not being to be able to do many of either but I have now increased the numbers by quite a lot in only 3 weeks. My question is, even if I am able to do 100 push ups and 200 sit ups, will I look any more fit than I do now? I know I'll be able to do more, but will I really see any changes? (Also I have taken up an increased protein and less fattening food diet aka no more BK)
