I need to know the name of a type of psychological/personality disorder?

My friend had a husband that really deceived everyone. He was very personable and friendly in public and even to my friend before they got married. Once they got married, he changed completely. It was a Dr. Jekyl Mr. Hyde transformation. My friend went to a counselor and said this man was "_____" and it wasn't masochist or manic deppressive. It was't masochist or manic depressive, but something different. Can anyone help me out with this particular personality disorder?
