What can I expect when getting my wisdom teeth extracted?

I'm going in tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous. I was told not to eat or drink 6 hours prior to the surgery. The thing I'm most worried about is the IV and being knocked out. I can't stand needles and I'm scared I won't wake up. The pain really isn't what I'm worried about because I hear you get prescription pain meds. What can I expect? Plus my manager is expecting me to be able to be working 4-8 monday and 11-7 tuesday. Is that too soon?
