Does he still like me in that way?

I had this boyfriend,but we finished and we said we was better of mates.he told my mate he still liked me but he didn't want to go out with me as it just didn't feel right.we stopped talking for ages.and then randomly he text me asking if I had asked this Lad out and told me that the lad who wanted to get with me hadn't had a girlfriend in a bit so he had probably gone back onto me.whenever I'm upset he will text me and ask me what's wrong.he puts like 7 kisses to me and a heart.he always asks me weather am going to party's and stuff like that,does he still fancy me?I just want some help cause it's messing with my head"/
