Can I update straight from Mac OS X Leopard to the new and upcoming Mac OS X Lion?

I know that Apple has just come out with the new Mac OS X Lion software, which will be available in July. My Macbook Pro is currently running Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.8). When it is available, I would like to update it to the new OS X Lion. Can I upgrade straight from OS X Leopard to OS X Lion? I know there is OS X Snow Leopard in between, so would I have to upgrade to that software before being able to upgrade to the newest software (OS X Lion)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
